Welcome to Pisa!

How to reach Pisa

Pisa is easy to reach by train, car or flight, and is well connected to the rest of Tuscany and Italy.

The two Tuscany airports are in Pisa and in Florence.

The Pisa “Galileo Galilei” Airport offers various connections with European airport hubs. The Pisa airport is about 1.5 km far from “Pisa Centrale” railway station (15-20 minutes walk), from which you can reach any Italian railway network destination. You can get to the railway station by taxi, bus, or with the fully automatic “People Mover” service. The Pisa airport is about 2.5 km southwards from the city center (40 minutes walk) and 4 km far from the Leaning Tower (60 minutes walk).

The Florence “Amerigo Vespucci” Airport is the other Tuscany airport, about 100Km far from Pisa, which can then be reached by train. You can get from Florence airport to Florence “Santa Maria Novella” railway station by taxi (15 minutes trip) or by bus (20 minutes trip). There is also a tram service available. Frequent trains leave Firenze “Santa Maria Novella” railway station for “Pisa Centrale” railway station, about one every 30 minutes. Some regional trains do the trip in just an hour, others in 80 minutes. Trains are available from 05am up to 11pm. A single ticket costs about 10 euros per person. For time table information and ticket prices, see www.trenitalia.com.

In the case your flight lands in Milan, Rome or Bologna, then you have to reach the closest railway station and get to Florence “Santa Maria Novella” railway station. Then, you can arrive in Pisa with a regional train.
